OUR VISION

To encourage all parents and teachers at Brabham Primary School and the wider community to become actively involved in Brabham Primary School by helping make it a caring, fun, sustainable and educational focused environment.

 

OUR GOALS

  • In a changing space, we want our kids to be in a school that cares about diversity, community, and sustainability.
  • Fundraise to provide resources and programs for students in the school.
  • Develop a sense of community within the school.
  • Encourage parents to participate in the school.
  • Be a transparent P&C by building relationships with parents and teachers at the school, and the wider community.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

New members are welcome at any time, anyone can attend meetings and volunteer at fundraising events. To have your vote count at meetings simply complete a membership form, pay the $1 membership fee and volunteer your time to support the school community. Meetings are held twice per term in person and via video link.

For a school our size, (over 200 students) we require a minimum of 8 members to hold a general meeting and 5 members to hold an executive committee meeting.

WACSSO supports P&C’s in WA with many valuable resources, insurance, constitution and rules etc. For more information their website is Western Australian Council of State School Organisations — WACSSO

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • OFFICE BEARERS: (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) - These members are all financial account signatories, are responsible for managing business between meetings, setting up and managing fundraising events and ensuring all members are fulfilling their roles. Office bearer roles are all re-elected every year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • PRESIDENT: Acts as a public representative for the P&C. Liaises regularly with the school principal and other staff, ensuring efficient communication exists between the P&C members and the school. Helps the secretary to set the agenda for meetings, chairs general and executive meetings. Assists the treasurer with finances and guides the sub-committees where needed.
  • VICE PRESIDENT: Assists the president where needed and chairs meetings in the president's absence. Acts as the WACSSO liaison. Assists with social media and fundraising websites set up. Guide sub-committees.
  • SECRETARY: Collects and distributes P&C association mail. Manages P&C documents, archives and maintains a register of all members. Provides notice of upcoming meetings, distributing the agenda and reports before meetings, taking attendance and minutes at meetings then distributes minutes and reports to all members after meetings. Provides social media assistance.
  • TREASURER: Receives, checks and banks all monies payable to the association. Maintains transparent and clear books of accounts. Prepares and presents a report of the accounts at each general meeting, notifying the P&C of any potential issues. Prepares annual financial statements, presents these at the AGM and completes reports to authorities such as the ATO.
  • EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: This is made up of the 4 office bearers and 4 (minimum) executive committee members. They provide support to the office bearers to make sure decisions that can’t wait in between meetings get made.
  • GENERAL MEMBERS: Aid in decision making and event research. Create advertising for events. Volunteer at events alongside executive committee members. Aid in discussions and provide feedback from the school community.
